Wow my first blog post, I feel like it should be accompanied by the theme from Doogie Howser. Don't worry you won't learn some valuable lesson by the end of this blog post. However you will learn about a NHL phenomenon called the playoff beard. It originted back in the 1980's with the New York Islanders, as a sign of team solidarity they decided not to shave until they were either eliminated from the playoffs or won the Stanley Cup. As luck would have it they won the Cup and the playoff beard was born. Now us hockey fans can get in on the action through the NHL's Beardathon. Hockey fans sign up to grow a beard in support of their team and all the proceeds go to help a charity of that team's choice. As evidenced by the accompanying pic my team is the Chicago Blackhawks and their charity is Blackhawks Charities, which helps under priveleged kids state wide. You can check out my page and make a donation if so inclined here. Thanks for reading and GO HAWKS!
