I've got tickets to give away this afternoon on Alice! Here's a hint--be listening at 2:30-ish! I'll be hooking up a lucky listener with two tickets to check out the beautifully intricate Aimee Mann. She'll be down at The Pageant November 13th! Don't miss out on your chance to score these tickets!
Working at a radio station like Alice, we get exposed to so much great music! Regularly, I'll blog about some of my favorites. In the past, I've blogged about 7Horse, I've talked about on the air how much I love AWOLNATION's album Megalithic Symphony, and more!
The next addiction I can't put down, and it wasn't a surprise to me, is the latest attempt from David Byrne! He hooked up with St. Vincent for an album called Love This Giant. I recently became enthralled with Byrne after watching his classic movie Stop Making Sense. I then stumbled upon this classic clip--an interview with Byrne and some character shifting interviewer. You can watch that 80s era video here. The best line in the interview is "Have you ever visited a psychiatrist or taken drugs?" Byrne responds "I'll tell you later." The delivery is priceless.
Anyway, you've been hearing the tune "Who" from Love This Giant on Alice, and hopefully you're as much in love with it as I am! You can watch the video of "Who" below or at this link.
If you're into eclectic concept albums, you've gotta pick up Love This Giant! Another great tune from the album that I have listened to at least 50 times this week is "I Should Watch TV." The way it comes in, the beat change, the lyrics--it's top notch!
Byrne and St. Vincent are on tour, but they're hitting up the west coast and Australia ... Sadly, I don't see any dates coming to the Midwest ... yet! I'll keep you posted!
