Part-time jock, part-time reporter, all-time new media--Here I'll share with you things I've come across in the world!

Wednesday's Joy of Music and FB Games

Hanging out again for Joy today, we'll get the Joy of Music on and also other shenanigans, plus plenty of music to get you through your hump day!

The Joy of Music, Bishop Style

Tonight's Joy of Music, brought to you by The Legacy Theater, features an artist we're all familiar with--Ben Folds Five!  The new song "Do It Anyway" comes from the forthcoming album, the first from the trio Ben Folds Five in 13 years.    Don't miss tonight's Joy of Music!  Listen to the tune below or follow this link.

During the more than a decade hiatus, Ben Folds has put out some solo stuff but this new album brings the band back together for a ten track attempt titled The Sound of the Life of the Mind which comes out September 18th.  You can pre-order the album here.  The band will be in Chicago September 30th. Get tickets here.

Other music news

Three videos have surfaced online showing Green Day in all their punk glory performing “Nuclear Family,” “Kill the DJ,” and “Wild One.” All three tunes are expected on the forthcoming album iUno! which is due out September 25th.

Group love is hitting the road for a second tour and they'll be in St. Louis at the Pageant October 8th and then a month later they'll be in Chicago at the Riviera November 8th.  Click here for ticket info.  They were on Conan with their new tune "Itchin' no a Photograph."  Watch that video here.

Also, you've been hearing the new tune from Mumford and Sons titled "I Will Wait."  Well, the video is now out as well.  Watch that below, or follow this link.

The Scourge of Facebook

I just spent, I don't know, about 30 minutes going through Facebook to BLOCK all the damn game requests.  I'll admit--there was a time where I played a few of the games.  Granted, it was only for a few days here and there until I found out how much of an absolute waste of time it was.  That was literally more than a year ago since a last played.

My Farmville farm looked like what the corn fields look like now--dried up and brown.

My super hero characters were starved for attention and a good fight.

My Diamond Dash and Ruby Blast--well, I don't even know what those are but I was sick of getting requests ever few minutes from friends I don't even know ... So, I went through and blocked all the requests.

"How?" you may ask!  Simple.

  • Go to you notifications and click on the game app you want to block.
  • Then find the link "View in App Center."
  • Click that link and then find the link that says "Block."

You should then be free of those annoying app notifications.  Now it will take some time to block all the apps, but it is well worth the time!  People helping people!  That's what I'm all about!

Time for something different

I know that Johnny Molson is probably freaking out about the Mars rover Curiosity.  Its pretty exciting!  So exciting that one NASA scientist forgot how to give high fives.  Watch below to see how one dude gets left hangin'!
