Keep Emotions in Check, Both Flea & Atoms for Peace Plan Albums, and Preview of Grohl's Doc

As we learn more about the tragedy of the mass-shooting in Aurora, Colorado, earlier this morning, I think it's important to not let our emotions take over.  People are going to spin this politically on both sides.  We should all work to see through the opportunists!  As we head into the weekend, let's be sure not to forget to keep the victims and their families in our thoughts and prayers.

On to the music

On a more positive note, Flea plans to release a new solo album titled Helen BurnsHe announced the album on Twitter and that the proceeds from album sales will go to help out charities that do music education.  That's flippin' awesome!  I love Flea!

I recently saw the Red Hot Chili Peppers' bassist tour with Atoms for Peace (Thom Yorke's solo project) up in Chicago.  It was a great show and the first time I have seen Flea on stage.  He's wild while slamming on the bass, by the way!  But, Atoms for Peace also plan a new album!  Read more here.  Totally looking forward to that!  Hopefully we can spin some of that here on Alice!

Have you seen the new trailer for Dave Grohl's documentary?  Grohl decided to make a feature film about the Sound Studio Center where he recorded with Nirvana for the iconic album Nevermind.  The movie features a ton of great artists and there's word that they'll all collaborate together for a tune or two.  That's gonna be epic!  Watch the trailer below:

And finally, what would a blog be without talking about stupid criminals?  Mornings here at the station I do news for 970 WMAY across the hall.  I got an early call from a listener about a bunch of police cars outside Heartland Credit Union on South Grand.  I called the Springfield Deputy Police Chief and he said it was some dude who was trying to cash bad check and the bank's employees were able to the "suspect" there in time for police to show up and arrest him.

I bet dude didn't even know that he was found out as he waited for the money from the bad checks.  It's good to know that the sponor of Alice's Places To Go, People To Meet segment is keeping your money safe!  Way to go Heartland Credit Union
